ASH WEDNESDAY- A DAY TO PONDER



Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent,

Ashes remind us of our own coming end.

In His plan, God made us out of dust,

To earth we’ll return one day, we must.



Whether we are great or powerful,

Whether we are rich or beautiful,

Whether we are poor and live in want,

With death to prolong our life, we can’t.



Our life on earth is temporary,

To live it well is necessary.

Eternal life we shall inherit-

If, in the sight of God, we merit.



God has hidden death from our knowledge,

Our limits, we need to acknowledge.

Life to us is God’s benevolent gift,

He takes it away when He thinks fit.



Lent is a time for inward journey-

A time to check our life of hurry.

We are called to fasting and prayer,

And come to know God very near.



Lent gives us a desert experience,

It’s a time to receive indulgence.

May the cross of Jesus be our sign,

Let Jesus, in our hearts, daily reign!
