When a friend tells you that they’re on a “no carb” diet what do you do? Cheer for them? Roll your eyes? Don’t worry, we’re not here to judge. In fact, your eye-roll would have been totally justified. Because there’s no such thing as a no-carb diet (unless you count fasting).
Chances are, if you hear someone bragging about their “no carb” diet, they’re actually talking about a low carb diet. And don’t get us wrong, “low carb” can still be a great start, but it doesn’t paint the full picture. Because what’s even more important than the sheer quality of carbs you’re eating, are the types of carbs you’re eating.
In this video, Steven Gundry MD breaks down the difference between simple and complex carbohydrates, and shows how you can use this knowledge, plus a little lectin know-how, to avoid the destructive consequences of a Standard American Diet.
