On 8 October 1999, ITN looked into the profile of real estate tycoon-turned TV personality-turned presidential hopeful Donald Trump. Some who ITN spoke to, such as Liz Brewer, a friend of Trump's ex-wife Ivana, struggled to take Donald's bid seriously. And it's easy to see why. Trump announced his intention to explore campaign options the previous night on Larry King Live, and named Oprah Winfrey as his preferred running mate.
On 1 August 2023, it was announced that Donald Trump had been charged with plotting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, which he lost to Joe Biden. Trump is accused of four counts, including conspiracy against the rights of citizens, tampering with a witness, and conspiring to defraud the US.
