Honest review of the GVIDO Digital Music Score. Is it worth $1600? No, but there are problems that go beyond the price tag.
Pros
- Dual screens and E-Ink technology.
Cons
- Technology is bizarrely outdated, slow to respond, and clunky. The interface is something you would expect from the early 2000s.
- The stylus pen is mandatory. Think of the nightmare scenario if you misplace the pen and can't access your music.
-Inflexible playlist options. Cannot move from song to song, must return to the playlist between each.
-Processing time between page turns often takes more time than physically turning a page would.
-Any score you buy from the GVIDO store stays in the device, you cannot print it or access it from any other device.
-The company has a stringent No Return policy, which indicates that they do not stand by this product. (The work around for getting a refund is to open a dispute with the credit card company you made the purchase with.)
-It is not backlit, even though that should have been an obvious addition, so you would still need to carry a stand light with you.
-The gvido.tokyo website that comes up first in my Google search, only offers its Terms & Conditions in Japanese, and the contact box doesn't work. This again indicates a company that doesn't stand by its product and doesn't value customer relations.
Overall this completely lackluster product does not live up to the expectations or the price tag and the dubious technology makes it difficult to trust. I do not recommend this product.
