"The dictatorship may still continue to try to cheat, play dirty and try to prevent the elections from taking place with any of the scenarios. There are those who speak of a conflict with Guyana, there are those who speak that they will disqualify him (Edmundo Gonzalez), there are those who speak that they will suspend the election. All are hypotheses. But what is real, what we know, what is concrete, where we are standing today is that on July 28 there will be an election and you Edmundo Gonzalez will be elected president and you will have the responsibility to move forward in a transition."

STORYLINE:
From the headquarters of the Venezuelan opposition party Voluntad Popular (Popular Will), presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez on Thursday called for organization and big turnout to win the presidential elections.
"We must win the election through three fundamental keys: a high turnout, international support and lots and lots of organization," said Gonzalez to an excited crowd.
The founding leader of Voluntad Popular party, Leopoldo Lopez, spoke to the crowd through a video call.
"The dictatorship may still continue to try to cheat, play dirty and try to prevent the elections from taking place," said Lopez, who spent years in jail in Venezuela and now lives exiled in Spain.
"Where we are standing today is that on July 28 there will be an election and you Edmundo Gonzalez will be elected president".
The opposition aims to win the election and oust president Nicolás Maduro who is seeking to extend his presidency for six more years.
Succeeding Hugo Chávez, Maduro has been elected president of Venezuela for two consecutive terms since 2013.
