The "Dragon Ball Sparking!" series, known as "Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi" in Western regions, is a popular line of 3D fighting games based on the Dragon Ball anime and manga series.
The series includes several titles:
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi (Sparking!) – Released in 2005 for PlayStation 2, it was the first game in the series. It introduced a new gameplay style that allowed players to move freely in large 3D arenas and featured many iconic characters from the Dragon Ball universe.
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (Sparking! NEO) – Released in 2006, this sequel expanded the character roster significantly and included a more refined combat system and additional game modes, such as a story mode that closely followed the anime’s arcs.
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (Sparking! METEOR) – Released in 2007, the third entry in the series featured one of the largest rosters of any Dragon Ball game to date, with over 150 characters. It also improved upon the gameplay mechanics and introduced night and day stages as well as online multiplayer for the first time.
