Oein De Bhardúin is a well known and highly respected figure within the communities he is associated with. Oein is perhaps the most widely recogniseable LGBT member of the Pavee community and that is not simply because he is larger than life and twice as handsome.
He joined LGBTlife as a guest and shared with listeners his experiences of growing up as a member of two minorities. Oein pays tribute to the commitment of hi parents to education and highlights how that equipped him to overcome the prejudices of the unenlightened.
He details an awareness of his sexual orientation from the age of 12yo and how he publicly identified himself to family and friends from 16yo. He shares with listeners his hopes for an inclusive Ireland founded on Equality for All following the Marriage Equality referendum.
