As part of our Master Thesis, we created this video to present our research findings in the context of the ongoing energy transition.

While the energy transition aims to combat climate change by shifting from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources, it also has significant consequences for mining towns dependent on fossil fuel and mineral extraction. To enhance society's understanding of these impacts, Dax presents his findings on the effects of the energy transition on the coal mining community of Ermelo, South Africa, and Mathijs shares his insights on the impacts of a copper mine on the mining community of Chingola, Zambia.
