(4 Sep 2015) About 2,500 migrants and refugees, who had travelled from Turkey to the Greek islands of Kos and Lesbos, arrived in Piraeus on Friday on board Eleftherios Venizelos, a ship chartered by the Greek government to transport migrants and refugees from the Aegean islands.
Most of the passengers were refugees from Syria, who had embarked on dangerous journeys on flimsy boats through the Mediterranean Sea trying to reach Europe.
