You may have heard about 2 5 1 chord progressions - ii V I as it's often writting in Roman numeral chord notation. But do you know what a huge variety of options you have for enriching, improving and substituting the chords in your 2 5 1s?
This tutorial shows you just some of the stuff you can do. 2 5 1s are essential because they tend to appear at crucial moments in chord progressions, typically halfway through or at the end as the song is returning to the tonic chord.
In the tutorial I explain how 2 5 1s work, how to enrich the basic chords of the 2 5 1 using sevenths and ninths, how to substitute the chords for cool jazzy sounds and also how to use sus4 chords on the 5 of the 2 5 1 for a very cool, direct, sparse sound.
