On October 30th, 2024, was held the first webinar in Tostan’s "50 Years Together" series, a major highlight of our organization-wide campaign celebrating five decades of transformative partnerships and community-led success. This inaugural session, titled "Locally Led, Globally Supported: Fueling Community Movements for Sustainable Social Change," explored the origins of Tostan and the pivotal role of community-driven approaches in sustainable development.
The webinar featured Joelma Pereira, Tostan’s National Coordinator for Guinea-Bissau & Edrisa Keita, Tostan's National Coordinator for The Gambia, who both bring extensive experience in communications, advocacy, and program management across West Africa. They shared their insights into the ongoing impact of Tostan's methodologies and the vision for the future of community-led development.
They were joined by Tostan’s founder, Molly Melching, whose pioneering work in empowering African communities has earned international recognition. Molly provided an in-depth look at how Tostan’s innovative approach has been a catalyst for sustainable change over the past five decades.
