I got this 1/2-ton transmission platform adapter for converting your floor jack to a transmission jack. It was only $42 or so on Amazon at the time I got it. Similar/same ones were selling on eBay and elsewhere for $75 to $100.
It ended up working for me but its probably best to be used with a lift or onto a lift jack support.
