Originally domesticated 4,000 years ago in India for its fruit and wood, Mango trees were brought to East Asia between the 4th and 5th centuries B.C. Then spread throughout the tropics in the 1600’s. Today, because the trees only bear fruit for 15 to 20 years, they’re routinely cut and replenished, which has a positive impact on the environment. Similar to Teak, Mango’s color ranges from golden brown to yellow, usually with pink and/or black streaks. Often with curly or mottled figure, sweet smelling Mango wood is popular for wood veneer, architectural plywood, furniture, flooring, and ukuleles. #LiveedgeSlabs #WoodSlabs #Liveedgewoodslabs #mangowood #figuredmango
