YOJHI YAMAMOTO Spring 2025 Paris Full Show - Fashion Channel
Inside the grand Salons de l’Hotel De Ville, Yohji Yamamoto unveiled his breathtaking Spring 2025 collection at Paris Fashion Week. Known for his masterful blend of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and contemporary design, Yamamoto delivered a show that was both chaotic and poetic, with each piece meticulously deconstructed and reconstructed. Dubbed "broken outfits," the designs appeared artfully haphazard yet carried a sense of deep thought and precision.
Set to the haunting sounds of Bach, Gluck, Ravel, and Leonard Cohen’s “You Want It Darker,” the collection played with asymmetry, layers, and textures. Sheer black dresses contrasted with glaring red string, while maroon gowns boasted intricate cut-outs and lace bodices, giving off an unfinished jigsaw puzzle effect. The use of knotted yarns, silky fabrics, and cotton slabs gave each look a rebellious yet elegant edge.
Yamamoto pushed the boundaries of fashion "laws," creating ensembles that felt like pieces of art sourced from his cutting-room floor. Dark, moody tones dominated the collection, but in the final moments, vivid red dresses and sleeveless blazers made a striking appearance, leaving the audience longing for more. And there’s more to come—Yamamoto will be launching a new book in collaboration with M/M Paris this Sunday.
