This event by the European Feminist Platform ([ Ссылка ]) shed light on the situation in Poland regarding sexual and reproductive health and rights, democracy and the rule of law with a specific focus on the consequences of the ‘Constitutional Tribunal’s’ decision to ban abortion in case of foetal anomaly of October 2020. Together with Eliza Rutynowska we explored the impact of the verdict on Polish women’s access to legal abortion, the reaction from Polish civil society and the general public as well as the Polish authorities’ repressive actions in the face of public contestation.
Eliza Rutynowska, a pro bono lawyer for many pro-women’s rights and democracy demonstrators, will explain how this court ruling fits within the wider puzzle of the degradation of democracy and the rule of law in Poland.
