Gangster Sanjeev Jeeva, a close aide of Mukhtar Ansari, was shot dead inside the Lucknow court complex. Jeeva was on trial in connection with a murder case. He was accused in the killing of Brahm Dutt Dwivedi, former UP cabinet minister, and a senior leader of the BJP. Dwivedi was shot dead in Farrukhabad district in February 1997. Sanjeev Jeeva was shot multiple times by unidentified assailants in the courtroom. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to sources, a cop and a minor girl also injured in the incident. The shooters were dressed as lawyers, eyewitnesses said.
