Toyota has created a legendary sports car, the famous AE86, and the Toyota GR86 is writing the next chapter in that legend with a winning combination of power, performance, agility, responsiveness, style, comfort, and convenience. This car is the result of a partnership with Subaru. It is the twin sister of the Subaru BRZ!

The same enthusiasts behind Toyota Gazoo Racing's championship race cars worked on the new generation of this coupé to increase cornering precision with a focus on increased stability and power and improved aerodynamics.

Upgrading from a 2.0L flat-4 engine to a 2.4L version widens the engine bore diameter of the GR86 to 94mm (up from 86mm previously), resulting in a 20% increase in engine capacity, from 1,998 cc to 2,387 cc. This more powerful engine improved the 0-60 mph time from 7.2 to 6.3 seconds for the manual transmission model and from 8.2 to 6.8 seconds for the automatic transmission model. The manufacturer estimated fuel consumption is rated at 12.4/9.0/11.1 L/100km (city/highway/combined) with the 6-speed manual transmission and 11.8/7.8/9.8 L/100km (city /road/combined) with the 6-speed automatic transmission.
