Thutmose has lived a lifetime in just a short span. The Brooklyn resident immigrated to the states from Nigeria with his family when he was nine years old only to encounter a SWAT raid over his father being mistaken for someone else. Not one be deterred, he quickly adjusted to life on this side of the Atlantic. After a steady adolescence, Thut enrolled in and later dropped out of college, and went through a series of retail jobs before fully concentrating on a music career. He quickly hooked up with super producer Scott Storch and instantly became a critical darling with the release of last year’s ‘Man On Fire’ mixtape. Now the Afro-styling lyricist is back with “Memories,” an introspective number that finds him ruminating on love’s lasting appeal. The song is featured on the soundtrack of ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.’ Grab someone close and press play.
