NNB. THIS IS A VOICEOVER TRANSCRIPT, NOT A FULL SHOT LIST.
[Location: MIAMI, Florida, USA]
[VO: various of march and rally]
HAITIAN AMERICANS IN MIAMI WERE BOTH SOMBER AND STRIDENT ON THE SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEADLY PORT-AU-PRINCE QUAKE. ABOUT 150 PEOPLE MARCHED IN LITTLE HAITI, WHERE THEY LAID A WREATH AND QUESTIONED AID EFFORTS.
[NATS: 'WHERE IS THE MONEY, WHERE IS THE MONEY?"}
[SOT MARLEINE BASTIENNE /HAITIAN ACTIVIST"
"right after the earthquake, President Obama said Haiti would be his priority. And yet, a year after the earthquake, while Haitians are dying, while children are going to bed hungry, while people are living under tends, he decided to resume deportations of Haitians to Haiti. Is that fair?" No!"
THOUSANDS OF EARTHQUAKE SURVIVORS ARE IN MIAMI -- AND A REPORT ISSUED BY ELEVEN AID AGENCIES SAID THERE ARE MANY PSYCHOLOGICAL, SOCIAL, AND OTHER PROBLEMS.
[
MEANWHILE -- SURVIVORS LIKE SERGE COMEAU ARE TRYING TO ADAPT TO LIFE HERE -- AND IT'S NOT EASY.
SOT: SERGE COMEAU /EARTHQUAKE SURVIVOR]
"Mostly struggling because it's a new system. New rules, new language, new custom, new everything"
AID GROUPS ARE SEEKING MANY CHANGES AIMED AT ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF SURVIVORS, ENABLING THEM TO RETURN.
COMEAU IS PLANNING TO DO JUST THAT -- HOPING HIS CIVIL ENGINEERING COURSES WILL LET HIM BUILD QUAKE PROOF BUILDINGS.
