Very little is known about the Molotov bunker lines or fortified areas, the Russians started constructing real fast after they and the Germans divided Poland. They had a vast amount of know how learned over the previous decade of building the Stalin line farther East and much of these went into the new Molotov bunkers now on their Western frontier.
I spent some time traveling through Poland to discover these bunkers and sometimes ruined remains, and found them to be constructed remarkably well and well laid out and designed. So it is time to show you some of the remains of the Bunker line which was built in less than a year before it saw its first and only battle in 1941.
And they really are interesting to visit, quite different from the Polish and German in many ways, although at times Polish bunkers which had survived the battle of 1939 were incorporated in the new Russian line. So that is where we start in this episode on the Molotov line, right on top of the Polish Narew river line we visited last week.
