The Art of Praying the Scripture.❤️

The practise of LECTIO DIVINA (Latin for holy reading) draws an intimate engagement with the Bible. It is an old monastic practise of immersing oneself in Jesus through the Holy Scriptures. Prior to this, immersing into the depths of words and scripture is an ancient Jewish tradition. This contemplation of scripture is one of the keys that leads to deep encounters with the Word of God.

The 4 steps to Lectio Divina are
1) LECTIO - Reading
2) MEDITATIO - Meditation
3) ORATIO - Prayer
4) CONTEMPLATIO - Contemplation

Lectio Divina derives from the Jewish traditional studies of scripture that uses a 4 step approach to uncover meaning.
1) LITERAL
2) SYMBOLIC
3) MORAL
4) MYSTICAL
