The U.S. THAAD system has successfully intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile aimed at Israel, marking its first-ever interception on Israeli soil. The missile was neutralized with help from Israel's Arrow defense system. Deployed in October 2024, THAAD, developed by Lockheed Martin, is designed to destroy short- and medium-range ballistic missiles during their final flight phase, strengthening Israel's defense against threats, particularly from Iran-backed groups like the Houthis.
