Pharmacist are medication experts, who understand the risks associated with medications and want to reduce the risk of medication use to prevent harm to our patients whenever possible.
Because some community pharmacists are driven by corporate quotas on quantity over quality of patient experience, pharmacists often have very limited time to fully discuss the risks and monitor patient response.
This video is intended to increase Sports Pharmacists awareness of ergolytic effects (concerns with medications use that reduce strength or endurance, may cause side effects particularly bothersome to competitive athletes or are otherwise not the best fit for use by athletes). This information may be useful to consider in patient counseling for any patient to whom a pharmacist dispenses fluoroquinolone antibiotics.
