The African Union peace and security council said joining hands to defeat the scourge of Boko Haram is vital. The council held a meeting on Wednesday to evaluate the work being done through the regional coalition to defeat Boko Haram in Nigeria and in parts of the Western Africa region. This comes as the UN Chief Antonio Guterres called for continued support for the African Union and the Multinational Joint Task Force efforts against Boko Haram West Africa. Speaking to CGTN after the meeting on Wednesday, the Chairperson of the Peace and Security Council said the fight against Boko Haram was coming to a close expressing his optimism about efforts by Lake Chad basin states.
