The Finnish Border Guard works with several European maritime agencies to enhance cooperation in the field of coast guard functions. One aspect of it is creating a voluntary framework of common standards for training and education. This is called sectoral qualifications framework for coast guard functions. The work to develop SQF is led by the Italian Coast Guard. Activities take place in the frame of the ECGFA NET project which is led by the Finnish Border Guard.
