Sunil Jakhar, the former Punjab Congress chief, says he is not running for the party's CM candidate. His name is also absent from Congress's ongoing tell survey to select its CM candidate. But, just days before the Punjab elections, Jakhar, who is not even running for CM, tried to clear the air by claiming that 42 out of 79 incumbent Congress MLAs favored him for CM in September of last year, while only two named Charanjit Singh Channi. Jakhar has given a statement, saying "Channi Ji convinced Rahul Ji that all party workers want Congress should declare a chief ministerial candidate as all the opposition parties have already declared. Then Rahul Ji said he will speak to the party workers."
