Farragut Municipal Planning Commission September 17th 2020
You have to hear Farragut Mayor Ron Williams claim during a Farragut Planning Commission meeting on September 17th that to ease the traffic from the Biddle Farm apartments during school rush hours in the morning and afternoon that the town of Farragut would ask Knox County Schools to have Farragut Middle School start an hour later to ease school traffic. Please think about this folks. That would make the school rush hour last an hour longer twice a day. Every person in Farragut should listen to this very short commentary from the Mayor. Do you support doubling the school rush hour twice a day?
This should have been front page news. Why wasn't it Farragut Press?

Discussion on Farragut Comprehensive Land Use Plan and Zoning related text amendments associated with the redevelopment of the old Kroger property – Farragut Town Center at Biddle Farms, Parcels 3.02, 3.03, a portion of 3.18, and a portion of 3.19, Tax Map 143, 45 Acres (SITE Incorporated, Applicant)
After 15 years of planning in one night the Farragut Municipal Planning Commission guts the Farragut Comprehensive Land Use Plan and removes mixed-use from the Farragut Town Center at Biddle Farms. This was done in spite of one of the largest protests in town history. There were 19 pages of email protests read into the official record. The Planning Commission ignored this massive resident objection.
This will have to be voted on twice in the Farragut Mayor and Board of Aldermen to be approved.
Does this mean that the retail component is now an option and no longer a requirement? If that is the case does this mean the entire property can now be zoned for apartments only? If this zoning is approved would the developer be free to sell the property to another developer who could build apartments without the retail?
Vice Mayor Louise Povlin made the amendment to remove mixed-use from the project. The vote was unanimous 9 to 0. This change was done without a traffic study or a hydrology flooding study.
