Due to some fairly recent changes to the brand that The Home Depot carries, Ryobi has been able to shift slightly and provide more high-end Outdoor Power Equipment Items. You will see this in Chainsaws, Mowers, and Blowers. I wish we would have seen this before, but this gives you a small view of how much THD controls what is on the shelves and the price points.

Straight up, the Ryobi 40-Volt 18" Chainsaw Model RY40508 is the Greatest Of All Time Chainsaw from Ryobi and it will compete and beat most of the other battery-operated chainsaws on the market! While chain speed is not listed, it is faster than the Milwaukee M18! Yes, it will cut faster than the Milwaukee M18 FUEL Chainsaw. That is a bit hard for some to handle.

With the black hard case, this saw reminds me of the Poulan Wild Thing Gas-powered saw. The speed and power, along with the build are very similar. The big difference is the refueling time. Yes, charging the 40-Volt batteries still can take some time even with the new Fast Chargers. So if you are going all battery-powered, invest in a few extra batteries.

We had a few hiccups with our Ryobi 40-Volt 18" Chainsaw. Most can be corrected and I am going to assume our main issue with leaking oil might be limited to our saw alone. Either way, like normal, we show you everything about these saws and allow you to make your decisions with your money.
