Filmed on Friday, July 7 2023, I drive around the village Annawan, IL to see what's going on.
The naming of Annawan is unclear, but some believe the town was named for a Winnebago Indian Chief.
The first recorded settler in the area was Daniel Morton in 1846.
In 1853, the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad built their track through Annawan.
In the early 1900s, a new channel of nearby Green River was built, which drained the swampy land around Annawan making it suitable for farming.
Annawan is home to the Rolle Bolle World Tournament. Rolle Bolle is a yard game which originated in Belgium, where it's known as krulbollen.
As of the 2020 census, there were 884 people residing in the town, up from 878 in 2010.
