The Contractors Handling the Alaba Suru Interchange On Lagos Badagry Expressway linking Second Rainbow on Apapa-Oshodi-Oworoshoki Expressway Over the Christmas and New year holidays successfully completed the erection of beams for the Alaba Bridge project. The first beam was erected on the 24th of December 2022 while the beams were fully erected on the 2nd of January 2023.
This video shows a component of the ongoing Construction of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway at Suru-Alaba. The bridge is to serve as a by-pass to decongest the traffic volume experience at mile 2. This bridge will connect Apapa-Oshodi-Oworoshoki Expressway, Festac and Ago Palace Way/Okota at second rainbow which is where construction is taking place presently. This bridge consists of three legs, a flyover and two ramps.
The flyover section of this bridge is meant to take vehicles across the existing Apapa-Oshodi-Oworoshoki Expressway and descend at second rainbow to connect festac link road and consequently Ago Palace Way/Okota. The other two legs are to allow for ascending and descending of vehicular traffic in and out of the interchange. The bridge also comprises of a round deck section that allows that allows motorists decide on going towards Badagry or return to Lagos without getting to mile 2.
There will be a toll plaza section on the bridge from the video, we can see the ongoing construction of this section.
