No matter what you think of the DevOps movement, two things are certain: The full definition of "DevOps" can be remarkably hard to pin down, but the basic premise of development and operations collaborating closely leads to higher quality applications.
DevOps is historically a very inclusive movement, and also one that advocates a high degree of automation. Databases exist in both the Dev AND Ops worlds, and yet are coming to the world of rigorous automation relatively late. Are they a bridge between teams, a point of contention, or just caught in the middle of how different teams like to work? And just how should they, and the people who work on them, be included in modern software practices?
Join us as we invite DevOps expert and evangelist James Betteley onto the show to talk about how he's seeing teams and companies evolve, advances in automation, and explore how working with databases is changing.
More about the discussion panelists:
James Betteley is DevOps Evangelist, and has worked for leading industry software companies such as Fourth, Caplin and M/blox. James’ goal in DevOps is to debunk complicated software systems, automate as much as possible and just try to make things more sensible through great Development & Operations processes, whether that be by using tools or implementing a new process or culture.
Grant Fritchey is a Microsoft SQL Server MVP and a Product Evangelist at Redgate Software. Grant has authored books for Apress and Simple-Talk, and speaks regularly at user groups and conferences.
