Good morning everyone and welcome to todays UK weather forecast on Saturday 28th September 2024.
Current Situation: A ridge of high pressure has built in from off the Atlantic bringing plenty of dry but chilly weather with it as we start the weekend...
Today:
Saturday begins mainly dry with clear spells and variable cloud but there are a few showers around northern and western coasts. It a cold start with patchy ground frost in the south and an air frost in the north.
Through the rest of the day most places will remain dry with sunny spells and variable cloud but showers will continue in the west and north west while northern Scotland could have a longer spell of rain. Temperatures will be chilly at 7C to 14C.
Tonight:
Showers will fade away and most places will become dry with clear spells and variable cloud. A few scattered showers will continue around western coasts with a longer spell of rain arriving in the far south west by morning. Another fairly cold night but not as cold as last night with temperatures of 2C to 10C.
Tomorrow:
Most places start dry but outbreaks of rain will spread steadily from the south west across England and Wales during the afternoon and evening while Scotland and Northern Ireland should stay mostly dry. Winds will become strong in the south and west with a risk of gales up the Irish Sea by Sunday night. Temperatures will stay cold for the time of year at 8C to 13C.
Outlook:
Monday: Heavy rain and a risk of flooding through the central swathe of the country. Cold.
Tuesday: Sunny spells and scattered showers. Chilly.
Wednesday: Mainly dry with sunny spells and a few showers. Milder.
