New Delhi, April 8 (ANI): Hours after the BJP government relaxed the norms for providing relief to farmers whose crops have been damaged due to the heavy unseasonal rain, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said that he has written to state heads asking them to offer immediate relief to farmers if they have NDRF or contingency funds with them. While launching MUDRA Bank in New Delhi on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that farmers will get assistance even where the loss is 33 per cent. Earlier, assistance used to be given to farmers if 50 per cent or more of his crop was damaged in a natural calamity. At the same time, farmers will also get 50 per cent more compensations. PM also said insurance companies have been asked to settle the claims of farmers on a priority basis. The banks have also been asked to restructure crop loans.
