☺Random Thoughts Corner ☻: A frantic clash of blades. An intense rush of excitement. The heat of battle. Rivalries burn anew. Who will survive?
I feel like the violin/guitar combo creates a sense of urgency in certain parts of the song in the way of a high stakes battle that neither opposing side can afford to lose. This song also makes me imagine it being used for some sort of sophisticated/formal high energy dance sequence.
From watching the Urdr Hunt cutscenes, I believe this track plays in several scenes but it is most likely associated with that short yet epic battle scene between Gundam Marchosias and Mobile Armor Harael, a rare snippet from the mysterious Calamity War. In my opinion, it is definitely a wickedly cool moment that leaves viewers wanting more. That ending part of Marchosias revealing its 4 sub-arms wielding additional swords and rushing towards Harael is just the chef’s kiss of a very cool and intimidating scene. Truly fitting and living up to its demonic name.
And the soundtrack for this Calamity War scene is just as noteworthy, so noteworthy that in fact I am surprised nobody has done an extended version of it yet. So I decided to go for it. I haven’t noticed any audible hiccups with how I looped it when I giving it a listen so I’d say it is a success.
For the picture, I used some screenshots from the Urdr Hunt cutscenes from some videos here on YouTube. As I wanted to feature Marchosias, I didn’t want to just grab a simple image of that Mobile Suit and call it a day. Seeing that there is that scene with Hajiroboshi having that glowing eye effect similar to the limiter off mode of the Alaya-Vijnana System, I wanted to pair that up with Marchosias in its limiter off mode. I basically just found a video of the Hajiroboshi/Marchosias fight against Harael and had to use the Ctrl + PrntScr function for capturing a screenshot.
The close up of Hajiroboshi wasn’t too much trouble of getting the timing done to snap a good picture but the close up of Marchosias proved a bit trickier. Even when I replayed the video at .25 speed, I had to retry at least several times over because this very specific close up shot of Marchosias with the glowing lightning eye effect attached to it is like literally on screen for like a single frame/half a second which is all the more bonkers that I was able to screenshot capture that moment in the first place considering it was almost impossible to see which is in a sense, strangely correct lore-wise as I am reminded of the Gundam Barbatos soloing Mobile Armor Hashmal scene, I recall that Julieta remarks that she can’t see their movements which I think implies that in reality, the Alaya-Vijnana limiter off mode is capable of making the Gundam Frames zip around blindingly fast like lightning in battling the Mobile Armors to land clean solid hits on them. Though, for the sake of the anime, the scenes are drawn in a way that us viewers can still see all of the action going on.
If you look at the reference screenshot capture that I used for Marchosias, I ended up using the right eye/right side of Marchosias and did some mirroring to create the half image. When I tried making the video image using Marchosias’ original left side, it looked a bit too dark with all of the shadowing going on so I ended up using the right side since the lighting was brighter and seemed to match a bit better with the Hajiroboshi’s lighting.
