This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.
This Core Concept video focuses on James Rachels essay, The Challenge of Cultural Relativism, and examines his discussion about whether we can or cannot criticize the practices or moral norms of other cultures or not. The relativist is committed to the view that we cannot - and should not - criticize them, without simply imposing our own culture's viewpoint. Rachels argues that this is mistaken.
