Mayor Lenny Curry and city officials briefed the media via videoconference Thursday afternoon.
Mayor Curry announced the State of Florida will be taking over the Lot J testing site this weekend, but testing will remain the same. In fact starting today, the capacity will be increased from 250 tests administered a day to 400 a day.
Mayor Curry also spoke about the test results we are getting back. As of this morning, the Florida Department of Health is reporting 589 positive cases of COVID-19 in Duval County, 11 deaths and 50 hospitalizations. Our percentage of positive tests is 5.6%, which continues to be below the state average (10.7%) and other metropolitan areas in the state.
Also, Mayor Curry took questions from two local high school and middle school students.
