Dual sport motorcycle helmets are a hybrid of standard full face helmets and dirt-bike helmets, they're great for adventure riding, and they make us look like awesome space marines! But are the extras (specifically the peak/visor and the face shield) more for looks than for function? On most dual sport helmets, I say yes! Put your helmet on and be honest with yourself, how much of that peak can you actually see past the brow of your helmet? How much dirt/roost will it actually block on your rides, and does it stick out far enough to provide any shade for your eyes or face? My guess is that most peaks on dual sport/adventure helmets will cause far more detriment from wind fatigue on the road than any actual benefit during off road riding. Let's talk about it!
