Elche (Alicante)
Elche, in Valenciano Elx, is the third most populated city in the Region.
after Valencia al Alicante.
Our first stop is :EL HUERTO DEL CURA
The jewel of Elche’s historic palm grove, where you will enjoy tropical plants, cactus etc … 🌵 ⬇️

Our second stop: EL PALMERAL , is a public garden , a unique cultural landscape with an outstanding value and universal significance. The palm Oasis is the largest one in Europe and declared World Heritage Site. As well as the dates that some of their 🌴 have.
This city was established by the founders of the Islamic city of Elche, a Millenium ago.
El palmeral is in the middle of the city, and is free entrance.
Our third stop: LA BASILICA DE SANTA MARÍA, ⛪️
Located in Santa Maria square , in the heart of the city.
This Basilica in the past it was a mosque, and now is the main gothic building in Elche.
You can access the tower from the side of the church where you will find a small door 🚪, the entrance is 2 € for adults, 1€ for children.
And you will get the BEST VIEWS of the city as I’d the highest point of the city.

Elche’s famous footwear industry is the largest in Spain and one of the midst important in all of Europe.
The name of Elche’s footwear even extends to the Spanish Royal Family.
Princess Letizia is a big fan of Pura Lopez and can often be send wearing a pair of her shoes 👠.
Not only that, Elche is well know as it’s the distributor to the whole spain of la Palma Blanca for the ceremony of Palm Sunday (Domingo de Ramos ) during the Holy Week.

They have a shop inside of Huerto del Cura, just at the exit so it’s difficult to don’t miss it.
