July 17 & 18, 2015 - On the north side of Chicago, midway between the Loop and Wrigley Field, stands a beautiful and historic neighbourhood pub, the Twin Anchors Restaurant & Tavern. Famous for its ribs and one of its legendary regulars, Frank Sinatra, I have come to the Twin Anchors because of what happened here on June 28, 2007 - it is also a Dark Knight filming location.
The Twin Anchors is the setting for Two-Face's initial murder on his rampage through Gotham's underworld. I sat in the exact seat where the dirty cop, Detective Wuertz, sat during the confrontation. Apparently the bar top was not scarred prior to filming, so all that scratches and cuts located where they filmed are simply referred to as "Harvey's Dents".
The Twin Anchors was a great little pub in its own right, and I liked that they were proud of being a part of Hollywood history, hence their decor on the walls near where ol' Blue Eyes used to sit decades ago.
The beer was delicious, too. I had two (of course) in honour of my internet namesake: Half-Acre Vallejo, and a Revolution Anti-Hero IPA. The puns were perfect - if only the IPA was a double.
NOTE: I don't own any of the music you may happen to hear on the radio while I was here.
