No pedal since the invention of electricity has given so much joy to countless guitarists, nor gathered unto itself so much religious voodoo, hype and misinformation as the Ibanez Tube Screamer. Here I line an 80's original up against most it's notable descendants and compare them the proper way- using exactly the same phase.
How do they compare?

The signal path is simple and uncluttered:
Guitar - Looper - pedals - amp - microphones - Focusrite ISA 428 - Protools HD.

The Shure SM57 is in the LHS speaker and the Sennheiser E609 blackface in the RHS.

I greatly dislike all the 'true-bypass' bollocks and the associated tone loss headaches so this video is coming at you in maxi-buffered mode. Just as the maker intended!
