Reggie and Pete Rose were my favorite players growing up. I went to see Reggie play when I was about 7-8 years old at Yankee Stadium. Back then, rumor had it that Dave Kingman hit one completely out of Yankee Stadium which had never been done.
I also had a Reggie Jackson button from that day but it was unfortunately lost in the shuffle of growing up. However, I did buy the set of baseball cards from THIS event because it was personal for me. One of my elders also played in the Negro Leagues and I grew up in the room with all his memorabilia and the team picture on display.
He never ever talked about his pro career, but he did teach me the game of baseball which I love dearly. We used to watch the Yankees AND the Mets via Rabbit TV. You guys may be way too young to remember that.
In this segment: A-Rod, Big Poppy & Derek Jeter listen to Reggie Jackson talk about what it was like during his day in MLB. I loved it when A-Rod embraced Reggie there because he completely empathizes with him.
