Peyton Lambton shows how to throw a winter party that compliments your home’s décor. She loves to decorate for the holidays, especially with accents that go with her home’s rustic and coastal aesthetic. That’s why this rustic winter idea is one of her favorites—it really complements the vintage furniture and décor she already has.

Let’s start with the fabrics. We love to use plaids, flannels, and fair isle which all look so cozy and warm. Fair isle is a pattern that was traditionally hand knit, using two or three colors, into simple borders and shapes. You probably grew up with sweaters decked out in this iconic pattern, we know we sure did!

Have you ever used a throw blanket for a tablecloth? It is a really cute and unexpected decorating idea. Use a ladder to hold extra blankets this season, so friends and family can easily grab one and snuggle up.

Incorporate fresh greenery into your decorating. From trimmings of your Christmas tree or clippings from your backyard, branches and leaves make beautiful and festive décor. Branches arranged as a centerpiece bring a fresh touch indoors.

Have hot cocoa and plenty of mix-ins ready for guests with these charming fair isle mugs. A hot cocoa station lets guests help themselves—no matter how many hot chocolate refills they want! Lastly, Peyton suggests that no holiday party is complete without Christmas cookies!
