Los Angeles Police Department was in pursuit of a DUI driver that started in Southwest Division, went through the cities of Hawthorne and Gardena, and ended in a crash with another vehicle in the city of Compton. The victim driver in the other vehicle was extricated and transported to a nearby hospital by Compton Fire Department. The suspect driver was detained and taken into custody by officers while the passenger escaped. It is unknown whether the suspect passenger was caught by officers.
