Israel has launched a large-scale military operation against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, killing at least eight people, including three children, and wounding more than 50 others according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The army began by conducting multiple air strikes on several buildings early on Monday killing at least three people, while armoured vehicles and snipers were sent on the ground targeting Jenin refugee camp, where at least four people died from gunshot wounds.

The attack is reminiscent of Israel’s assault in 2002, which inflicted widescale destruction on Jenin refugee camp, and resulted in the death of 52 Palestinians.
