A drop jump is a vertical jump or hop often used in the assessment of the lower extremities, its power and stiffness characteristics. The athlete performs a jump where he or she drops down from a specified height and then jumps upwards as fast and as high as possible. Based on the parameters derived from the ground reaction force and flight time, the dynamics of this elementary movement pattern can be thoroughly studied.
