The drone-based metal detection system with Geonics EM61Lite is capable to detect metallic (ferrous and non-ferrous) items on the surface and in the first few meters under surface.
Detection capability depends on the distance between an object and sensor's coil, and on characteristics of the target, i.e. size, shape, orientation, material composition, material thickness, material integrity, etc.
System operation over saltwater may have a small effect on response amplitude.
The video presents results of tests flights with Geonics EM61Lite over SPH Engineering’s test range with pipes and barrels placed underground.
Details of the flight
- Elevation of the sensor’s coil during the survey flight = 110 cm over the ground.
- Speed of the flight = 1m/s.
- Pipes are put underground diagonally (one end shallow, other - deeper).
