Zoo Miami Amazon: Land of the Giants

The Amazon River at 4200 miles long holds more fresh water than any other river in the world, in the rainy season with it rising more than 40 feet, dry forests become underwater habitats. The Amazon is also the longest continuous rainforest on Earth and in the Land of the Giants we will come across a flooded forest, Harpy Eagles and Giant Anacondas among many other unique animals.

First up is the Orinoco River which is the third largest river in South America, this area houses 7 exhibits, a few of these have unnamed species sharing them.
1) Kaup's Caecilian with unnamed freshwater fish species
2) Green-Crested Basilisk
3) Giant Horned Lizard, Baja Blue Rock Lizard
4) Anaconda, Basilisk
5) False Water Cobra
6) Poison Dart Frogs
7) Orinoco Crocodile

Inside the Flooded Forest building we will find 10 exhibits housing 30 species.
1) Wolf Fish
2) Smoky Jungle Frog, Basilisk
3) Puerto Rican Crested Toad
4) Mexican Red-Kneed Tarantula
5) Red Siskin
6) White-Faced Saki Monkey, Golden Conure, Grey-Necked Woodrail, Central American Wood Turtle, Guira Cuckoo, Golden Lion Tamarin, Green Jay, Red-Footed Tortoise, Boat-Billed Heron, Blue-Crowned Motmot, Keel-Billed Toucan, Green Iguana, Yellow-Rumped Cacique
7) Wolf Cichlid, Arapaima, Pacu, Ripsaw Catfish, Red-Tail Catfish, Side-Necked Turtle, Ocellate River Stingray, Tiger Catfish
8) Electric Eel
9) Blue Poison Dart Frog
10) Twist Necked Turtle

Outside the Flooded Forest building we find
Low to ground tank - Freshwater Stingrays and various unnamed fish
Pond - Ruddy Duck, Brazilian Teal, Crested Screamer, Blue-Winged Teal, White-Cheek Pintail, Chloe Wigeon, Ringed Teal, Cinnamon Teal, Silver Teal, Black-Bellied Whistling Duck, Red Shoveler, White Faced Whistling Duck, Rosybill Pochard, Black-Neck Swan, Coscoroba Swan, Comb Duck

Harpy Eagles

and finally a mixed exhibit housing: Red Footed Tortoise, Two-Toed Sloth, Hawk Headed Parrot, Helmeted Curassow.
