Derek O'Brien shared a sexual harassment incident while speaking on POCSO bill in Rajya Sabha on 24 July. The TMC leader claimed he was sexually abused as a teenager in a crowded bus. He urged everyone to be vocal about such experiences. Union Minister Smriti Irani replied to the debate by applauding Derek O'Brien’s courage. She said, “The fact that he recounts it 46 years later, tells us what an imprint sexual abuse leaves on a child.”
