A short film shot on board the RMS Queen Elizabeth ocean liner in 1957, of the Cunard White Star Line, and later Cunard, which met its demise in a fire in 1972 in Hong Kong harbour. She held the record as the largest passenger liner ever constructed from1938 to1994, and served on Cunard's twice weekly transatlantic service from Southampton to New York via Cherbourg in conjunction with her sister ship Queen Mary. Here we see her in fairly calm seas, steaming along far out in the ocean with no land in sight.
Family of the late RAF Air Commodore John Ellacombe, and his wife Mary (nee Hibbert), please contact me in comments.
