Oregon could become one of the few states in the nation to give no-strings-attached money to its residents.
Measure 118, also known as The Oregon Rebate, proposes raising taxes on big businesses and using that money to give every Oregonian a check, every single year. Advocates say it will alleviate poverty and revitalize the state economy — but opponents say it could actually end up costing the state and residents more money in the long term. OPB’s Dirk VanderHart explains what you need to know before voting on the controversial measure.
